Black Pearls brooch
My practice has always been material and process-driven and this fascination of exploring different materials and their potentials for jewelry making feeds my passion for creating not just visually interesting but functional works. I am particularly curious about how objects interact with our bodies, and I believe jewelry is a complex way of communication, it is a performative object.
This project, Black Pearls started with my curiosity of finding out how an ordinary silicon oven tray can be turned into a body decoration. Manipulating the appearance of rubber opens up a whole new discussion about value and it pushes boundaries to show the fact that anything imagined can be worn.
